Hostelling International Santa Monica (19th-24th March)

The Santa Monica Hostel is in a perfect location and has an amazing atmosphere which is chilled out and relaxed in the day and party time in the evening. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the hostel is clean, relaxing and comfortable...AND its only a 2 minute walk to the beach!

Location:
The location of this hostel is perfect, in the heart of Santa Monica and only a 2 minute walk to the beach and Santa Monica Pier. Just around the corner you will find 3rd Street Promenade full of shops, bars and restaurants. On Main street, just a few minutes walk away you will find the farmers market, full of fresh and local food! It is also close to the main bus lines so it is very easy to get around and see the sights from here and also convenient to get to LAX airport using public transport. There is also a tourist information centre attached to the hostel where you can get discounted sight seeing tours and all the information you need for your stay.

The Dorms:
I spent the first 2 nights of my stay in a 4 bed female dorm. The dorms are simple but well kept, clean and comfortable (everything you want/need in a hostel!) You have an assigned bed and locker in the room and you also get your own personal little shelf with your bed which is a nice touch. There are plug sockets dotted around the room and a mirror. Washrooms are communal, just down the hall, and are clean with plenty of showers, toilets, sinks and mirror space to share round!

Private Room:
For the last 3 nights of my stay I was in a private room. It was spacious, comfortable and relaxing. I had a big comfy double bed, a table and chair, space to hang my clothes and a TV (luxury!) It was nice to have some space to myself again and I really liked this room. Again the washrooms were communal.

Activities & Events:
There are activities and events everyday of the week, from tours of the local areas, pub crawls, comedy night, museum tours to all you can eat pasta/burger/mac & cheese nights. Its a great way to meet other guests and gives the hostel a fun and exciting atmosphere.

Breakfast:
Breakfast was served daily from 7-10 and included toast and bagels with your choice of topping, cereal, sliced peaches, yoghurt, fruit juice, tea and coffee. It was always busy at breakfast and with large tables its a good time to meet other guests and talk about your travels.

Hostel Amenities:
Laundry, wifi, 24 hour reception, activities & events, outdoor court yard with tables and chairs, lounge areas with sofas, free breakfast, kitchen.

Some of the facilities were closed during my stay due to maintenance work but the hostel also has a TV area & computer facilities.
